Quick warm-up
A boiler makes 60–70 °C water on demand, so panels can be smaller than on a heat pump and the house comes up quickly from cold.
For homes without a new slab
Timber floor, existing house, floors staying put. Flow and return run through the subfloor and come up through the boards at each radiator.
A valve per radiator
A thermostatic head on each panel sets that room and no other. Bedrooms cooler, living room warmer, spare room off — no programming.
Keep the return cool
A condensing boiler only condenses when the water coming back is below about 55 °C, so we design and balance for a wide flow-return spread rather than the hottest setting.

Gas radiator questions
Can I mix radiators and underfloor on one boiler?
Yes, and it is very common — underfloor in the slab downstairs, radiators upstairs. They run at different temperatures, so the underfloor circuit gets its own mixing valve.
Will my existing radiators work with a new condensing boiler?
They will work, but if they were sized for 80 °C water the boiler will have to run hot to satisfy them, and you lose the condensing efficiency. Sometimes the answer is to upsize a few key radiators rather than all of them. We will tell you which.
How noisy is it?
A hydronic radiator system makes no noise in the room at all — there is no fan. The only sound is the boiler itself, which on the Vaillant is 42–47 dB(A) depending on model.
What about towel rails?
They run off the same circuit and we fit them as standard in bathrooms. They can be valved so they run in summer for drying without the rest of the heating on.
